WCYC responses to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The WCYC Board of Directors held our Spring Board Meeting as scheduled May 9th, using online meeting technology.  Our assessment of the situation relative to activities was that we had enough information to know that most of our summer activities would not be able to proceed as thye had in past years.

Our water safety activities are, by their nature, groups of people. Regulations and recommendations on social distancing have driven these conclusions.
Water Safety/Swimming Classes - Unfortunately there is no way to safely and confidently conduct these group classes. Classes will not be held in 2020.

Youth Boating Permit Classes -The Crow Wing County Sheriff's  Boat and Water Department has determined that there is no reasonable way to conduct group classes. The Minnesota Watercraft Operator’s Permit can be obtained via an online course (fee of $24.95) at BOATERexam.com

Women At The Helm Given the smaller groups involved in this course and loosened regulations on small outdoors activities we had hoped to hold the July session. However, probably as an indication of the caution most people are demonstrating, we did not have enough registrations to hold the class.

Social Activities are important for the fellowship of the Club.
Unfortunately there is no scenario that would allow an event of 100 people in mid June, so our Spring Dinner is regrettably cancelled.

We are looking at possible activities which may be allowed later in the summer, which might include a picnic, smaller dinner or perhaps a boat parade. Send you suggestions to WhitefishChainYachtClub@gmail or use this form to submit them directly to us.

Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe and healthy.
