June Youth Operator Class
About this event
Minnesota law requires youth ages 12 - 17 to have Minnesota Watercraft Operator's Permit or similar certification from their home state.
Classes for 2026 are Wednesday June 10 and Wednesday July 15.
Sponsored by WCYC and presented by the Crow Wing County Sheriffs Water Patrol it teaches basics of safe boat operation and allows the students to complete and submit the required test during the class.
The classroom session will be followed by lunch (pizza of course, it's at Zorbaz) and allow on the water training supervised by the Sheriff's water patrol.
Youth born between 2008 and 2015 are eligible for the Youth Operators Permit. Those born in 2014 can take the class, but most wait until their 12th birthday to apply for their permit.
Parents are welcome to attend along with their students. We have had several comments that "the class is as informative for adults as it is for the kids".
