From the Commodore:

Greetings WCYC members!

Just as the weather here on the Whitefish Chain is transitioning from Summer to Fall, your club is going through a set of transitions this week as well. At the fall Board of Director’s (BoD) meeting on Saturday Sept 16, we celebrated the completion of Bonnie Coffey’s term as Commodore, and all the contributions and accomplishments she achieved in her 3 years at the helm:

•   Growth in Membership

•   Financially Strong

•   Increased Participation in all OutReach Programs

•   New BoD members with high energy and relevant skill sets/knowledge

•   Extensive Engagement with Community Groups and Events

Her leadership has set a great example for me and the rest of the BoD, and we are grateful for the place where she brought the club. She will stay on the BoD as Past Commodore.

We voted to reset BoD officers/positions, electing me to be Commodore. Voted for Bruce Lick to become Vice Commodore, and Nathan Anderson onto the BoD as a director.

The BoD is now working on a review of committee structures and goals. We will have a follow-on update later this fall. That effort will benefit from any observations or recommendations you have about the club and its mission. You can send those to me or any BoD member.

I’ll close for now by thanking you all for your generous donations and contributions to the WCYC, and sharing a note that came to us this week.

Hi Whitefish Chain Yacht Club.

My family has been visiting the Whitefish chain for over 20 years, and are now visit regularly as owners of shared in the Clamshell Beach Resort. For all those years we have been noticing the buoys at the various channels throughout the chain, and after finding your website today, I wanted to say Thank You. Thank you for placing the buoys, and especially for tracking them down when they go astray during the summer months. We've found various buoys in different locations when they came off their anchors, and didn't know if we should do anything about it, only to see them restored within a day or so. So, thanks very much!

We can all feel proud that the club’s 71-year legacy and mission to be a steward of the Whitefish Chain by promoting “Safety on the Water” carries on, and is appreciated.
